Have you thought of becoming an Open Gardens Canberra Volunteer?
The friendly faces you see at the welcome desk at every Open Garden all belong to volunteers. Volunteering with Open Gardens Canberra is an opportunity to meet new people and to make new friends who also have an interest in beautiful gardens and gardening, while learning new skills. The tasks involved in working at an Open Gardens welcome desk are easily learnt and you are supported all the way by more experienced volunteers, garden coordinators and the Volunteers coordinator. You choose when and at which gardens you would like to volunteer, and we can roster you on with a friend if you would like that. You are covered by our voluntary worker insurance while travelling to and from and while you are working at an Open Garden.
If garden reception is not for you, we are also looking for help with developing our social media and with building up our program of edible gardens.
We welcome both members and non-members as volunteers. If you would like to offer your time and skills as a volunteer or have a question about volunteering with Open Gardens Canberra, please send an email to [email protected] including your name and phone number. The Volunteers Coordinator will be in touch with you to answer any questions you may have.
