Louise and Ian’s Garden

10am to 4pm, 4th and 5th October 2025

Come and discover this thoughtfully designed garden nestled in the heights of O’Connor, shown for the first time in Open Gardens. Spread across three levels, Louise and Ian’s garden surrounds their beautifully renovated 1961 home, offering sweeping city views framed by distant mountains.

Wander through sculpted hedges, vibrant flowering shrubs, and thoughtfully placed pops of colour as you move from the sloping front garden through the recently renovated middle level and then out to the lower section. This redesign of the garden is a celebration of colour and form, where an artful mix of plant species, mostly non-natives, create a striking and harmonious landscape.

Every corner of this garden tells a story. Personal touches are woven through the space, making it more than just a garden—it’s a living gallery of memories. A lush green wall lines the driveway, guiding visitors toward themed garden spaces bursting with seasonal colour. A rose-covered arch invites you into the orchard and vegetable garden. The garden also provides a habitat for the diverse bird life and insects.  A joy to provide and experience throughout the seasons.

Highlights not to be missed include a tranquil sandstone water feature, a trellis-clad wall, and several whimsical topiaries—one in the shape of a Labrador, sure to delight and inspire donations to Guide Dogs Australia, the chosen charity for this event. Expect a canine visitor.

Whether you’re a keen gardener, an admirer of design, or simply looking for a peaceful day out, Louise and Ian’s garden offers beauty, inspiration, and heart.
