SUMMARY:G and J's Garden
DESCRIPTION:Set on a large sloping block with spectacular views\, this garden has been developing over the last 25 years. It was initially designed as a formal garden with stone terraces and hedges of box and camellias\, but now also homes a variety of native plants in the mix.  A paved area at the front of the house contains a water feature and provides a pleasant seating area.  Previously opened in autumn 2022 this popular garden will now re-open to showcase spring flowering plants and a newly developed productive garden. \nNotes: \n\nThere is plenty of street parking.\nThe closest toilets are at Chifley shops.\nTea and coffee will be available\nThere is a small water feature in the front yard.\nThere are a few low steps\, the block is sloping.\nGiven the time of year\, there is a possibility of snakes.\n\nSupported charity: Dementia Australia \n \nGarden Notes

SUMMARY:Hidden Lake
DESCRIPTION:As you walk around the side of the house a most unexpected vista awaits\, a lake surrounded by trees and shrubs serving as a haven for the many wetland birds that frequent the lake.  Over the last 20 years\, several thousand trees and shrubs have been planted\, transforming it from an overgrazed sheep farm with a few native trees\, some weeping willows and very few trees and shrubs in the house garden.  A large island has been constructed and is now fully vegetated with trees and shrubs. \nThe house garden consists of a mix of natives and exotic plants with some sculptural elements\, a large deck\, an aviary\, an arbour\, a fire pit and several water features and ponds\, all with a commanding view of the lake.  There are flower and rock gardens throughout with large hedges bordering the garden.  A short walk from the house will take you to a large vegetable garden\, orchard and chicken runs. \nThe lake is circumnavigated by a meandering path which provides many delightful areas to enjoy a picnic and the lovely vistas of the lake\, house and farm. \nNotes \n\nDirections – use Google Maps\, not GPS. From the Federal Hwy\, take Macs Reef Rd. At the T-intersection turn left into Bungendore Rd. After 1km turn right on to Morrison Rd. Hidden Lake is 1km on the left. It is 11kms from Bungendore to the Morrison Rd turnoff.  Please note\, there is 1km of dirt road to their driveway.\nParking is available in the on the left just after the entrance gate. Disabled parking is near the house.\nTea and coffee\, cakes and home made preserves will be provided by the Bungendore CWA.\nA sausage sizzle will be provided by Wildcare.\nThere will be a stall\n\nGarden Notes \nSupported charity – Wildcare \n \n

SUMMARY:Tanglewood
DESCRIPTION:Tanglewood is a 2-acre rural property which has unfolded over 25 years from a bare grazing paddock\, through dense planting of deciduous and native trees\, shrubs and groundcovers\, to a place of productivity\, sanctuary and beauty. The productivity includes an enclosed orchard where chooks and ducks waddle\, quack and chirp to their hearts’ content; multiple vegetable beds providing family and friends with food year-round; volunteer plants (including asparagus\, and apple and peach trees); a hazelnut grove; and trees harvested for firewood by heavy pruning and coppicing.  The majority of structures on the property have been designed to specifically to use items in the “someday useful” repository and constructed accordingly. The garden also has several artistic installations which feature upcycled and repurposed materials. \nNotes \n\nThe garden is situated 4.5km from the Bungendore CBD via Tarago Rd. On entering Bungendore\, at the roundabout\, take the Tarago exit. Continue for approximately 5kms. Turn right into McDonnell Drive. 109 is located at the end of the drive.\nParking is on the road. It is a cul de sac.\nThe nearest toilets are in Bungendore.\nMarket stalls: Southern Harvest Farmers’ Market and  Community Gardens Australia.\nIt is only partly accessible to wheelchairs and prams as there is some uneven ground. It should be OK for walking frames\n\nTalks\, both Saturday and Sunday:\n11am- Pruning with gardener Mark Peters\n12 midday: Composting My Way with owner David Gibson \nGarden Notes \nSupported charity:  Southern Harvest Farmers’ Market \n \n

SUMMARY:The Naturalistic Garden
DESCRIPTION:This garden was recently redesigned and landscaped\, retaining a large boundary hedge\, along with productive olive and fig trees. While professionally designed and landscaped with low stone walls\, paths and a pond\, the plant mad owner planted out the garden with a wide variety of predominantly herbaceous perennials\, many originating from dry parts of Europe and the North American prairies\, and many that like poor soil! The garden comes to life in spring and then there are flowers\, bees and birds until winter sends the garden to sleep. While the choice of plants has been influenced by Mediterranean and naturalistic garden designers\, it is an eclectic and busy mix where plants freely and joyfully intermingle. \nSupported Charity: Birdlife Australia \nNotes \n\nParking available in the street.\nThe nearest toilets are at O’Connor shops\nThe garden is accessible to prams.\nMost of the garden is accessible to wheelchairs.\nThere is a pond.\n\nGarden Notes

SUMMARY:Baker Garden - Final opening
DESCRIPTION:Established 16 years ago on a 970sqm block\, this gardener’s garden is designed to provide colour and interest all year round. It includes many sculptures\, plus stone walls and bird baths. Pine bark mulch\, drippers and no lawn make it a low maintenance garden.
