Introducing Open Gardens Canberra
Open Gardens Canberra is a not-for-profit community association run by a committee of volunteers. Our mission is to open gardens in the Canberra region for viewing by members and the public; to encourage sustainable garden practices; and to support community projects and charities.
The unflagging energy, enthusiasm and drive of the first President, Shirley Pipitone led to Open Gardens Canberra becoming an incorporated association on 8 May 2015. In its first two years of operation an exciting and diverse range of gardens have been opened to the public, and membership has grown quickly to almost 600.
This year, Open Gardens Canberra is pleased to offer for the first time a scholarship to assist a CIT horticultural student with tuition fees, books and equipment in the second and third year. This scholarship is worth $2,000 and the successful applicant will be announced in late 2017.
